During my daily scouring of the internet, I scrolled upon an amazing golf mat. As I looked closer, I saw the mat was set up with playing cards for landing spots. GENIUS! I didn’t wait much longer before reaching out to 2Skills to learn a little more about the company and see about a review.
Set up really doesn’t get much easier than this. The Stroke of Luck comes rolled up in a carry bag. All you need to do is open the bag, pull out the putting mat, the die (it comes with 1 die to roll for your putting position), and unroll it. Simply roll the mat on the floor and you’re ready to go. The back of the mat is rubber and creates an amazing connection with the floor (I used mine on our hardwood floor) to prevent slipping or even curling up.
Great job on whomever created the look of the Stroke of Luck. The cards are laid out in a random order across the top portion of the mat which gives you a great chance to hit your mark.
DOES IT WORK
Yes, it works. I will tell you though, it’s not easy … but then again, nothing should be. The Stroke of Luck rolls a 10-13 on the stimp meter. It’s fast and requires a great touch to hit your mark. The flatter your playing field (ala – living room, bedroom, basement, etc …) the more fun you’ll have.
The game was created to mix Poker and Putting. You can play by their rules (included in the package) and play 5 or 7 card stud or you can make up your own game. Since it’s not easy, I would opt for making up your own game. You can count the same card twice, mulligans, whatever you’d like.
My conclusion is that this is an amazing game for not only my house, but for any golf course/country club. If a golf course/country club placed a Stroke of Luck in their clubhouse, they would have teams lined up to play. And guess what, the longer they play – the longer they’re at the course – the more they spend at the course. Win/Win!
$199 for the Executive Game (3’ X 9’)
$299 for the Club Game (4’ X 12’)
I would opt for the Club Game. It may be a little more expensive, but the board is longer and will allow for a better putting experience.
